Jason Cyr is a 33-year-old, self-taught visual artist from Winnipeg, Manitoba, currently living in Vancouver, BC. He works in oil, wax encaustic, sculpture, and is an established photographer using both traditional and alternative processes. Jasonís work is very organic in nature and boasts very strong colour, composition, and mood. Recently Jason has been rediscovering the mediums that he works in and finding different ways of creating the image, his latest work is best describes as brooding and atmospheric.
"One day I realized I didn't have to create like everyone else. It didn't matter if things looked like others thought they should, or if they even liked them. What did matter was that I was expressing what I had to say in a way that made sense to me. Shape, colour, texture and space make sense to me, they create, or recreate a mood as much as an image. I attempt to put forth a moment in time, rather than a representation of physical space."
